Director Baktygul Ismailova held a meeting at the Department of Social Development of Bishkek City Hall on the issue of holding events for the Day of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

The meeting was attended by the heads of territorial divisions of the department.

Currently, 729 participants and families of fallen soldiers, including 32 disabled people, 688 internationalist participants, as well as 9 families of fallen soldiers in the performance of international duty in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, are registered with the social protection authorities of the city. In order to improve the standard of living, the following types of targeted social assistance are provided from the local budget only in Bishkek:

- 9 families of the fallen soldiers of internationalists are paid a quarterly scholarship in the amount of 3,000 som and 500 SOM;

- monetary compensation in the amount of 1000 SOM per quarter for the purchase of gasoline for families of fallen soldiers in the DRA;

- free New Year's gifts and gifts in the form of sweets for the International Children's Day are provided annually to the children of soldiers who took part in the Afghan events;

- on the basis of personal statements, one-time financial assistance is provided to the families of the fallen soldiers in Afghanistan.

In addition, for this category, on the basis of the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, monetary compensation is paid at the expense of the republican budget in exchange for benefits for the disabled of the DRA in the amount of 7 thousand soms, participants of the DRA – 6.0 thousand soms, widows of those killed in Afghanistan – 1 thousand soms.

Bishkek City Hall pays special attention to solving social issues of internationalist soldiers. So, every year on the anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, a requiem is held in the city in memory of the fallen soldiers in the Republic of Afghanistan, district events with the provision of one-time material assistance.

By the 34th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from the DRA, payments of one-time material assistance for the disabled of the DRA in the amount of 8 thousand soms will be made from the funds of the local budget, the families of the fallen soldiers of 10 thousand soms, the participants of the DRA of 3 thousand soms.
